What kinds of problems are caused by duplicate files? Computers are now used by almost everybody, no matter what field they work in, but greater use has also brought greater problems along with it, one of which is ‘duplicate files’ – they not only slow down computers but also take a lot of space in the hard drive. Besides, having so many duplicate files creates a mess and disarray in the system.

When you work on your computer, you tend to install so many programs on it. Some might be useful and important but some are absolutely useless yet everybody installs them on their systems. These programs then create a number of unwanted files more than once, which in turn reduce the efficiency of a computer.

The duplicate files also increase the hard disk fragmentation, which may give your computer Blue-screen fatal error of death. These files can of course not be deleted manually and your computer suffers an overall decline in performance and lack of disk space.

One big reason for the computer to slow down is repeated files found in computers like Dynamic Link libraries (.dll), most of them are essential but some of them may also be made up of harmful viruses which start replication of anonymous files. Duplicate Finder 2009 removes these kinds of duplicated .dll files which are generated by some viruses.

Those people, who keep big collections of multimedia files e.g. music, photos and movies etc., keep on downloading stuff without thinking much and so many copies of files are cluttered up in their systems making it difficult for them to identify data.  And sometimes while trying to sort these files out they end up deleting the important files from their system.

Furthermore, the duplicate copies are so scattered in different drives of computer that it becomes difficult for the user to pin point them.  And also in this era of fast changing world, hard disks enable users to save millions of files on their computers but these duplicate files reduce the storage capacity of hard drives by a major percentage in most PCs. If these files are taken care of by using Duplicate Finder 2009 the disk space in hard drives could be used in an efficient way and that would also increase performance of that computer. In this way you can boost up your computer’s speed without spending much money.

The best way considered by most windows users to get rid of these files is by using Duplicate Finder 2009 software, which are very effective. Duplicate File Finder software is one of the best software used for removal of duplicate files which uses state of the art file content analysis technology to show that where are your duplicate files exits and easily detect that files.

How to organize photos collection by removing duplicate files? There was a time when we used to take pictures using cameras with films which had to be developed to get the required pictures and it used to be difficult to get their soft copy. But now with digital photography you can simply load pictures into your computer using a data cable or a memory card, and it also saves photographers the trouble of keeping hard copies of their photo albums in a safe place. Photos kept in a computer are more organized and each photo can easily be found and seen.

However, digital photos are also have issues, like if you take many photos of a same thing you might find it difficult to identify the one you want. This way, digital pictures in a computer can easily get disorganized and you would end up with so many duplicate copies of similar photos. Moreover, it is obvious that all the photos cannot be given labels and it is hardly possible to remember where you put a certain photo, which ones you have and which ones you do not. Sometimes even by giving labels you cannot find the specific photo you require.

By using duplicate photo finder (e.g. Duplicate Finder 2009™) software you can compare similar images and then organize photos collection by removing duplicate files. For instance, if you are a photographer, you would take as many pictures as you can to get the best results for your clientele. Then by using duplicate photo finder software you can find similar photos so that you can sort the best pictures among them out and then show them to your certain client.

Organizing photos collection is very important for a photographer and the problem of duplicate images is one of the major ones they face. The duplicate photo finder software makes their work a lot easier and efficient and they can instead use the hours they spend on manually organizing their collections by deleting duplicate files on making their work better.

Therefore, by taking a few measures like labeling your photos, installing software to remove duplicate images you can organize your photo collection. By labeling your photos, your computer can easily find photos whenever you want them by only typing their given label in the search box and using duplicate image finder software would help in deleting the unnecessary images and obtain the ones you require.  This way, you can find pictures from your photo collection on your fingertips and professional photographers can do their work in an efficient and organized way – coming up with more creative work and satisfying their clientele.

Find and Remove Duplicate Files to Free Up Hard Disk Space

Posted on January 14, 2009 by AshiComments are off

One of my year 2009 resolution is to clean up and organize all my files. I have software, movies, mp3s, documents and notes everywhere in I think at least 8 separate external hard drives. All my external hard drive enclosure looks the same and I honestly tell you I can’t identify which is which unless I connect to my computer to see what’s in there. Both my laptop and desktop hard disk is running out of disk space. When I am in these conditions, don’t expect me to have a proper backup of my stuff when all my files are in such mess. I know it’s bad… really bad. Actually having less or no duplicate files is good because you can free up your hard disk space, have proper backup, reduce backup time and reduce file searching time.

So what I am going to do is I have to start organizing my files. I’ll put all software into one hard disk, all mp3s into another hard disk and so on… Then I’ll have an extra hard disk solely for backing up my important files. But before I do all that, I expect to have a lot of same and duplicate files which is taking up a lot of unnecessary hard drive space.

I’ve found Duplicate Finder by Ashisoft to find and remove duplicate files on my computer.

Use of this utility couldn’t be simpler. Simply pick some file paths to search for duplicate files. Tell the program what search engine you want to look for. Something like ‘Byte by byte’ or ‘Same Name’. Next tell it what kind of file.  Click [Scan] button and wait for a short time.

The program will rapidly search the folders you request and mark up what it thinks should be deleted and place it in a list next to the suspected matching duplicate file. It will pick older files or whatever other preferences you choose to set. You can check the files and delete away. Couldn’t be simpler.

I saved 15.9 Gb of space on an 80 Gb Hard Drive in less than 8 minutes while I made a cup of tea. In my book that makes this software well worth it’s $26.00 asking price.
